Pretty sure the things you just described is called "Being A Good Mom.". Helicoptering is micromanaging friendships, school projects, or mundane aspects of life that don't need managing. Making sure your kid isn't bullied and that they're eating healthy is part of your job as a mom.

He was a previously very sweet kid who started going downhill emotionally and ended up brandishing a knife, I can't remember if he was threatening suicide or threatening his sister. Anyway, he went into longterm care and came back out his old sweet self. I hope he stays that way. He's about 18 or 19 now.

My sister's fiance passed away this week (he was young, 30) and I thought about posting at the pod, but then what? I'm not religious so I'm not sure what those "prayers" are going to do and I'm not sure if I want them to know my business. I feel bad for Stephi though and most everybody else who posts their hardships but it's just not me.
You know 38, it's not just you. It's just different strokes and all that. Some people really believe in the power of prayer. I don't think they say it to be offensive. If their heart is in the right place, I don't think it matters.
It's a message board, and therefore, an outlet. Different people have different outlets. Just knowing you have the support of someone, even if they are strangers, can help a lot in a time of crisis. It seems to have been very helpful for Stephi and I like that. It reassures my faith in the ability of mankind to show compassion towards another person, even if you don't agree with them.
Do some take the attention-seeking to extremes? Yes. But sometimes, you just need a little extra encouragement.

From what she's posted he doesn't seem dangerous to me. Just a defiant teen. And I'm pretty sure if he did go into murderous rages she would have let the pod know. He might be bi polar and they are having trouble adjusting the meds but it doesn't seem like a good reason to look the kid up.

Eh, I guess I'm a dolt. I get that 'innocent until proven guilty' is supposed to keep the system fair and harder to abuse.
But when it costs the lives of two kids, and I think of the mom's parents, who have now lost their daughter AND their grandchildren, all because that piece of shit was able to abuse the system using exactly what's supposed to protect the innocent, I get pissed off and think that there has to be a better way.
I'm not the one who posted at the pod, but I can see why she said that. If that makes me an idiot, at least I'm an idiot with a heart.

There is some resemblance to the other kids, but honestly, he looks pretty different, too.
I also thought it was funny that she went to such lengths to explain his brown eyes. In every picture I've seen of her, her eyes have not been noticeably brown. I wouldn't have thought she was brown eyed.
In the end, I don't give a shit if it's her husband's kid or not. He's a cute kid. But she definitely reads here, and totally tried to explain herself. That was stupid. Because given the nature of the pod, and this place, it just makes it look like she felt that the comments needed to be addressed.
I think Jill's boy is a cute kid too. He looks just like his older brother. Strikingly so.
Question regarding Sass's kids. I know she had four and that three are adopted. To her credit, I have never seen her refer to any of the adopted kids any differently than her own, and don't even know which is her birth child. Anyone know? Just curious. I wonder how he/she feels about the issues the parents have had to go through with raising those 3 siblings. I hope there is a strong bond between them all.
And to all of those criticizing Sass, how many of them would have stepped up to take on a family of 3 older kids who were in pretty messed up shape? I don't really know much about her history, other than she did fake her death once. No idea what that was about. Kudos to her for taking in 3 kids needing a home. I don't think I could do it.
Yes she took them in but should she have? I don't think so, she wasn't equipped to deal with them. It takes someone with a lot of patience and kindness to deal with older traumatized kids and she has neither. ALL she does is bitch about them. Shot she was even complaining about the way kids at her church line up for some supper thing they do. Clearly she is a fount of maternal love and caring.
I'm so sick of seeing Jill post photos. Every fucking week she is posting some photo of her kids. They are cute, but Jill is so starving for attention and she's using those kids to get it. Damn Jill, get a life.
It amazes me that you guys get your panties in a wad about people posting photos. Look at the ones you want to and ignore the others. Get over it.

192, Um you do know that Sass was planning to undo the adoption of the oldest daughter, but then decided to "let" her age out.
And at least as late as a few months ago was in the process of finding an attorney to dissolve the adoption of the middle daughter? Nothing like causing untold damage to a child already suffering from attachment issues, along with mental baggage?
She hates those kids. And given the time they spend in state residential care, it's really the taxpayers raising them, not Sass.
