UPDATE: Based on the suggestions, I went looking for something to repurpose. I came across this container that I bought a long time ago for packets of gravy and things of that nature. Now, I used some duct tape to make it pretty and to match my bedroom colors, filled it with wheat berries to make the pencils stand up and voila...perfect. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I don't know, but why doesn't she turn the thermostat up? My thermostat is on 73 degrees, not 68. Hell, I'd be cold as hell too if it was on 68 degrees.
I just want to be comfortable in my home. I could care less how much the power bill is. Life is too short to worry over an extra $20 or $30 so I gotta wear three layers to be warm.
We always have our thermostat set on 67- and we have single pane windows, too. Put on a sweater or sweatshirt and use a blanket if sitting on the couch. We are used to it and it saves a lot of money. Sometimes if we get back from being in the cold and want to warm up quickly I'll briefly set it to 68. It'd be sweltering in here at 73! To each their own.

So I was commenting on how ours is set to about 67 and sometimes I turn it up to 68 and we're not cold. Our house would be a sauna if it was at 73. I assure you, the thermostat works fine. We have the system checked every year.
I believe it. I'm lucky to have an Ok MIL, but there are some NUTTY women in this world. Combine that with having to "let go" of their golden child, their baby boy...aaaaaand it can make for some really crazy MILs.
Now don't get me wrong - I know that half the time DILs can be a pain in the ass too. But I used to be a family counselor. Believe me. There are some DILs that NEED therapy for all they've had to deal with!
I believe it too 55/56. ILs can have a HUGE impact on each others' lives, especially if there is not much distance or boundaries going on.
My neighbor has her entire DH's family constantly in and out of their house. It is just how their family is. Her DH's parents, sisters, brother, his nephews and nieces are over there at least 5 times a week.
She loves them all and says they are a lot of fun but she is too nice and sweet to tell them she really would like more time as just a family unit with her own husband and kids.
On Xmas morning she rang my bell to bring us some breakfast goodies she made and as soon as I asked her how she was, she teared up and started crying. She was just overwhelmed because at 6:30 am his entire family started rolling into their living room and she had pictured a quiet AM with just her little family before seeing them later on.
It can really wear on someone, if there is a lot of people up in your business all the time, even if you love them and they are really nice.
As for me, I love my DH but one thing that bugs me is he tells his parents all our financial business. He is doing it for advice, I guess, because he does look up to his father a lot. He's not doing it to be a blabbermouth. But it makes me extremely uncomfortable. I feel like I can't even buy brand name cereal if we happen to be having a tight year without worrying that my ILs will think I shouldn't be buying it. Every penny I spend, my ILs are right there on my mind. It's just exhausting.

I think I know the pea too but I can't remember her name. It's driving me nuts trying to think of her name. I know she is currently pregnant right now. UPDATE: Based on the suggestions, I went looking for something to repurpose. I came across this container that I bought a long time ago for packets of gravy and things of that nature. Now, I used some duct tape to make it pretty and to match my bedroom colors, filled it with wheat berries to make the pencils stand up and voila...perfect. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Even at 66, I'd be turning that heat up!

I have a well-insulated home with new heating/air units, so my electric bill isn't high.
I just want to be comfortable in my home. I could care less how much the power bill is. Life is too short to worry over an extra $20 or $30 so I gotta wear three layers to be warm.

I believe it too 55/56. ILs can have a HUGE impact on each others' lives, especially if there is not much distance or boundaries going on.
My neighbor has her entire DH's family constantly in and out of their house. It is just how their family is. Her DH's parents, sisters, brother, his nephews and nieces are over there at least 5 times a week.
She loves them all and says they are a lot of fun but she is too nice and sweet to tell them she really would like more time as just a family unit with her own husband and kids.
On Xmas morning she rang my bell to bring us some breakfast goodies she made and as soon as I asked her how she was, she teared up and started crying. She was just overwhelmed because at 6:30 am his entire family started rolling into their living room and she had pictured a quiet AM with just her little family before seeing them later on.
It can really wear on someone, if there is a lot of people up in your business all the time, even if you love them and they are really nice.
As for me, I love my DH but one thing that bugs me is he tells his parents all our financial business. He is doing it for advice, I guess, because he does look up to his father a lot. He's not doing it to be a blabbermouth. But it makes me extremely uncomfortable. I feel like I can't even buy brand name cereal if we happen to be having a tight year without worrying that my ILs will think I shouldn't be buying it. Every penny I spend, my ILs are right there on my mind. It's just exhausting.
