TOKYO (AFP) – Japanese police are Tuesday hunting for a haiku poet suspected of killing five people in a tiny mountain village.

The five victims represent a third of the population of the hamlet in western Yamaguchi prefecture, where police on Sunday found three corpses after two houses were burned to the ground.

Investigators on Monday discovered the bodies of two more people, who reports said appeared to have been battered to death. All five of the dead were in their 70s or 80s.

The chief suspect is a 63-year-old villager at whose home police found a "haiku" poem stuck to the window.

The haiku is a traditional Japanese form, a three-line verse of 17 syllables in a five-seven-five arrangement. It customarily evokes natural phenomena, frequently as a metaphor for human emotions.

The haiku reads: "Setting a fire -- smoke gives delight -- to a country fellow."

Less than a year after Washington state residents voted to decriminalize possession of up to one ounce of marijuana, some residents of the state's largest city want its public use outlawed in their town.

Q13Fox.com reports that despite the fact that the new state law prohibits toking in public, pot smokers have been puffing away all over Seattle, and it's making life difficult for a lot of non-users.

"It’s definitely out of control," said bus driver Kalu Davis, who told Q13Fox.com that he sees people smoking pot every day at bus shelters.

"They blow it right into my face, and, because of that, I get light-headed. At that point I then have to stop the bus. I can't continue any further because I'm inebriated from the secondhand smoke."

Seattle City Attorney Peter Holmes helped sponsor the decriminalization law last year. Now, he's pushing a city ordinance that would make it illegal to light up outdoors, under penalty of a $103 fine.

"It's important that, while we celebrate the incredible shift that Washington voters put into law last November, we stay sober-minded about this," said Holmes, who added "This is about regulating marijuana, it's not about turning this into the Wild, Wild West,"

What is Cyberbullying
Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place using electronic technology. Electronic technology includes devices and equipment such as cell phones, computers, and tablets as well as communication tools including social media sites, text messages, chat, and websites.

Examples of cyberbullying include mean text messages or emails, rumors sent by email or posted on social networking sites, and embarrassing pictures, videos, websites, or fake profiles.

MILWAUKEE - Cyberbullying isn't just a teenage problem.

Women are also being targeted online, mostly by other women.

We tracked down adult cyber-bullying and found it tends to start in chatrooms and on social networking sites.

Gina Moore-Sanders loves typing out her opinions and sharing them with her peers online.

"I get to meet a lot of different people with diverse opinions and I like to have conversations with them," she told us.

Recently, Gina posted a creative story on an internet bulletin board. Soon, cyberbullies began taking swings at her.

"They said expletives, profanity that I was stupid and I was crazy," Moore-Sanders told us.

From snide comments to personal attacks to just plain mean words, the verbage left Gina shocked.

Cheryl Dellasega is a psychologist who also penned a book called "Mean Girls Grown Up." Dellasega says women commonly attack other women, particularly in cyberspace.

"I hear about adult women retaliating a lot more and retaliating in really vicious ways, to the point where sites get shut down, people drop off of sites," she said.

This bullying can be one rude comment, or a string of them. It can take place through e-mail, social networking sites, even instant messages.

"The topics that women are cyberbullied about are really endless. It could be a romance. It could be your parenting practices," Dellasega elaborated.

Romi Lassally started a website that's an anonymous online confession booth for women. While she's seen plenty of professional posting, "We probably see cyberbullying…maybe 1 in 10 confessions, maybe 2 in 10 comments. We don't want to post it. We want to offer a judgment free, safe place for women," she said.

WASHINGTON – As violence in Egypt turned increasingly deadly Saturday, Secretary of State John Kerry said the Mideast nation was at "a pivotal moment" more than two years since the uprising ousted the longtime President Hosni Mubarak.

Clashes between security forces and supporters of democratically elected President Mohammed Morsi in eastern Cairo early Saturday left at least 65 protesters dead. The Islamist-led protests over Morsi's removal earlier this month followed nationwide rallies on Friday that drew millions in support of military-backed authorities.

In 2011 a revolution ended Mubarak's rule and brought Morsi to power last year as Egypt's first democratically elected leader. Military authorities toppled Morsi last month, calling into question the future of democracy in Egypt and the nature of the U.S.-Egyptian partnership in the region.

The U.S. has not taken sides but for weeks has called for peaceful protests and calm responses.

The Obama administration has avoided defining the ouster of Morsi as a coup. Under federal law, U.S. assistance must be suspended if a country's democratic government is overthrown by military force. Egypt received $1.5 billion a year in aid from the U.S., nearly all of it for the military.

Workers at fast food restaurants in seven cities across America are planning to walk off the job Monday to protest what they say are wages that are too low to live on.

The Washington Post reported that the protests are set to take place in New York City, Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Kansas City, and Flint, Mich. and will involve workers at McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, and KFC.

The protesters are calling for wages of $15 per hour, more than double New York's current minimum wage of $7.25.

A network of local community groups, clergy, and unions, including the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), are backing the strike. In New York City, the protests are being organized by a group called Fast Food Forward, which states on the description of its Twitter account "No one can survive on $7.25."

"A lot of the workers are living in poverty, you know, not being able to afford to put food on the table or take the train to work," Fast Food Forward director Jonathan Westin told CBS New York "The workers are striking over the fact that they can’t continue to maintain their families on the wages they’re being paid in the fast food industry."

Industry representatives say that most fast food restaurants operate on a meager profit margin, making it impossible to increase employee wages.

I think she could. Easily. She's smarter than a lot of people who post on the internet (not just 2Ps). Anyway - thanks for the opinion and reply. :)

I'm not a huge fan of biochemipea, but I hate when people are asking innocent questions, and being real & honest about not having a huge budget, and someone replies like this.

Such.A.Bitch, ShihTzuMommy. Such.A.Bitch. Seriously, get over yourself. And newsflash: People who are actually classy & wealthy don't speak to people like this with the not-so-subtle bragging and digs.

"As for it being a terrible mistake--it depends on your area and price point. We were told flat out NOT to do IKEA kitchens in our primary home neighborhood by several Realtors. At our price point, people expect a different cabinet than IKEA.

The quality is there, but they have differences. For example, the metal 'sides' in many of the pull outs instead of finished wood. Have you chosen some glass fronts? That can help it look nicer and more inviting.

What about your countertops and fixtures? Did you go with a nicer, higher end finish in those? Seeing quartz is vastly different than laminate or butcher block. A substantial faucet will have a different view than a 39$ gooseneck. A standard sink is quite different than a wide and deep one. Things like that will make a tremendous impact.

Remind yourself that it will be beautiful when you are done and you'll be thrilled with your choices...if for nothing else than it is USABLE!"

Anonymous said...

Wow, that's nasty and bitchy even by STM's high standards. "Usable," really?

I don't even know what to say about people who say shit like that.

Which one Mopea or pretzels? They both seem wound up pretty tight. I noticed mopea yesterday getting into it with batya on the pope thread.

Anonymous said...

121 well she mentioned having 2 homes in that post, because notice she put "in our primary home" --

Come.On. In order to answer biochemipea's question, the info whether it was her primary home or her 2nd home or her 3rd or 4th home was irrelevant. Yet of course she has to put it in there. Just to remind everyone that she has more than one home.

Anonymous said...

I agree mopea's a bitch in that thread. Calm down, it's a public message board. People can ask whatever they want. There's always a way to find out info WITHOUT posting it on 2Peas, but sometimes people just enjoy the interaction with others. It's for conversation as much as getting info.

Jesus, I swear half the Peas must go through life SO MISERABLE because every little fucking thing anyone does annoys them.

Ok, Shitmommy has two homes.

One is a small house in Mooresville, NC. It's nothing to rave about and there's NOTHING in Mooresville. It's a one-story that is about 1600 square feet. They bought it for $120k in April of 2012.

Her other house is in Raintree in Charlotte, NC. These homes were built in the late 70's to early 80's. This house is almost 3000 square feet, wood siding, and a 2-car garage. They bought it in 2003 for $243k. Their back yard does back up on a golf course. I personally would find this annoying considering golfers are usually drunk and loud.

There's NOTHING for her to brag about. Even her cars are junkers.

Anonymous said...

Mopea reminds me of Captain K. The captain hasn't posted since March and Mopea joined in April. Hmmmmm.......

And yes Mopea is being a bitch for no reason.

Anonymous said...

Mopea is Comeonalready. She changed her name recently.

And yes she reminds me of Captain K, too. Has anyone been bumping old threads lately and deleting?

Anonymous said...

"...considering golfers are usually drunk and loud."

Actually most golfers aren't usually drunk and loud. Where the hell do you play?

Anonymous said...

132, look at where she said STM lives. It's in the South.

Anonymous said...

OMG is STM Paula Deen??

Anonymous said...

I've been on courses in the South. Marshalls, never tolerate disruptive loudmouths, even on the public courses. They get booted in a heartbeat. Have you ever met a golfer, no matter what region, who didn't fancy they're the next Arnold Palmer? Some can be downright anal about playing in a relatively tranquil atmosphere. Never met even the most rural of Bubbas who didn't have golf course etiquette mastered. In fact, their behavior is often more gentile than their city-slicker counterparts.

Anonymous said...

The worst behavior I ever encountered on a course was in western Pennsylvania--drunk, foul-mouthed, blue-collar yahoos. A quick call to the clubhouse by some other locals and a marshall appeared to escort them to the exit.

You might encounter a more courteous group of golfers if you stick to regulation courses.

House Republicans, in a lengthy report on the Justice Department's leak investigations, formally accused Attorney General Eric Holder of misleading Congress with "deceptive" testimony that he knew nothing of the "potential prosecution" of the press.

The 70-page report was released late Wednesday by Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee. To coincide with the release, lawmakers also wrote a letter to President Obama calling for a "change in leadership" at the Justice Department.

"The deceptive and misleading testimony of Attorney General Holder is unfortunately just the most recent example in a long list of scandals that have plagued the department," House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., said in a statement.

The report delved into the department's aggressive investigations over various security leaks, but focused in large part on the FBI affidavit seeking a search warrant for Fox News correspondent James Rosen's emails in connection with one such probe. The DOJ sought access to the documents by arguing Rosen was a likely criminal "co-conspirator" in a leak case, citing the Espionage Act.

The White House said bluntly Wednesday that it considers the controversy over the Benghazi attack to be among the so-called "phony scandals" that President Obama has been complaining about in recent speeches -- even as new questions were being raised about the lack of progress in the investigation.

Press Secretary Jay Carney was asked at the daily briefing about Obama's repeated claim -- which he asserted most recently during a speech in Tennessee on Tuesday -- that Washington is getting distracted by phony scandals. Asked what the president was referring to, Carney listed the scandals over the IRS targeting of conservative groups and over Benghazi.

I would go in friendly. You say you aren't a strong person so I would get all of the allies I could. I think you can let them know there will need to be changes in how they do things but that you will help them through it.
SPED thrives on teams. You will have a tough road to hoe but working with your principal (who totally sounds like she has your back), teachers, families, and kids you will move mountains!

I hate reading "on the spectrum"...especially when it's followed by “profoundly gifted"...some parents seem determined to label their kids, and have an excuse for any bad behavior. And, for the love of God, my kids are not "neuro-typical"! They are kids...they have good days, and asshole days. They are smart, but often lazy. Slacking off in school is unacceptable and addressed, without labels or excuses, and certainly without demanding differential or enabling treatment. All kids are not created equal...some are smarter, some are athletic, some are musically talented, etc...I'm afraid of seeing a whole generation of kids that aren't going to be able to cope in the real world. Teach them the skills they will need instead of teaching them that they're entitled to special treatment.
Sorry....stepping off my soapbox now!
