since the cards work like credit cards, it should be easy to track who the thieves are and press charges/deduct their overages from their future benefit amounts.
I guess I don't understand the people that overused their EBT cards...won't it just show up that they have a negative balance now that the system is back up? The cards are linked to their account, right? So what did they think they were getting away with?
It should be easy to figure out who stole extra food...the hard question will be what should happen to them. I do think they should have to pay it back somehow, either from future allotments, or by community service.

Have the able bodied ones volunteer, there are a lot of things that have been stopped due to lack of money ie re shelving books at the library, picking up trash (of course the union would have to agree). If you can work then you should have to do something to give back, there is no reason that a woman whose kids are in school all day cannot do so something for a few hours a week. And I agree that they will not go after the thieves for the money back.

I was diagnosed with Fibro a few years ago but eventually it was found out I had interstitial cystitis, which believe me is a REAL thing that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I think Fibro is something they tell women who may or may not have something wrong but they don't really know what it is.
I do agree that there are women who complain of pain who are just lazy and probably out of shape. On the other hand, sometimes there really is something wrong and it takes awhile to find out what it is. However,I think a lot of the peas who cry Fribro and Depression are crying wolf.

We have 2 kids, and when my youngest was 1, I was diagnosed with MS. I already had Degenerative Disc and some serious back issues. I worked full time until I couldn't (my youngest was 2) Last year my husband had to go to the hospital, where he was admitted for 2 weeks. He was diagnosed with Schizophrenia. We own a business, and he works full time most of the time. His illness ramps up occasionally and he has to take a week or so off to come back to normal. I am back to working part time, and do the books, etc. for the business.
With all of this, we were having trouble keeping up. I ended up taking some help. Medicaid for the kids, food assistance, and energy assistance.
I feel so bad that I had to do it. I tried everything else, but I just couldn't make it. Am I the same as the lazy, entitled people?

I think the sting is more about the fact that not long before this the uninvited twin invited this boy to a fun day of laser tag etc. Then after being treated to a full day of fun he turns around and doesn't invite the twin who included him but rather the other twin. Two years ago I took my son to the skating rink for a Halloween party there was a black kid dressed as a convict, who let's their kid black or white wear a convict costume?

since the cards work like credit cards, it should be easy to track who the thieves are and press charges/deduct their overages from their future benefit amounts.
I guess I don't understand the people that overused their EBT cards...won't it just show up that they have a negative balance now that the system is back up? The cards are linked to their account, right? So what did they think they were getting away with?
It should be easy to figure out who stole extra food...the hard question will be what should happen to them. I do think they should have to pay it back somehow, either from future allotments, or by community service.

Wow, I'm very sad to see this story. I feel bad for Walmart who was apparently trying to do a good thing. OTOH, I agree, a limit should have been set to avoid this type of mess.

Limit the time you can be on the system. Have the able bodied ones volunteer, there are a lot of things that have been stopped due to lack of money ie re shelving books at the library, picking up trash (of course the union would have to agree). Stop just throwing money at the problem it obviously isn't working. If you can work then you should have to do something to give back, there is no reason that a woman whose kids are in school all day cannot do so something for a few hours a week. And I agree that they will not go after the thieves for the money back.

I was diagnosed with Fibro a few years ago but eventually it was found out I had interstitial cystitis, which believe me is a REAL thing that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I think Fibro is something they tell women who may or may not have something wrong but they don't really know what it is.
I do agree that there are women who complain of pain who are just lazy and probably out of shape. On the other hand, sometimes there really is something wrong and it takes awhile to find out what it is. However,I think a lot of the peas who cry Fribro and Depression are crying wolf.

We have 2 kids, and when my youngest was 1, I was diagnosed with MS. I already had Degenerative Disc and some serious back issues. I worked full time until I couldn't (my youngest was 2) Last year my husband had to go to the hospital, where he was admitted for 2 weeks. He was diagnosed with Schizophrenia. We own a business, and he works full time most of the time. His illness ramps up occasionally and he has to take a week or so off to come back to normal. I am back to working part time, and do the books, etc. for the business.
With all of this, we were having trouble keeping up. I ended up taking some help. Medicaid for the kids, food assistance, and energy assistance.
I feel so bad that I had to do it. I tried everything else, but I just couldn't make it. Am I the same as the lazy, entitled people?

I lost weight, I exercised, I did pain management clinics, I became physically fit.
I still hurt.
I worked full time. I went to school. I had my kids. I was a working parent. I exercised, I stayed at a fit weight. I still hurt.
I was unemployed. I still hurt.

I think the sting is more about the fact that not long before this the uninvited twin invited this boy to a fun day of laser tag etc. Then after being treated to a full day of fun he turns around and doesn't invite the twin who included him but rather the other twin. I mean it would really sting. I know if I had a friend over for a sleep over, took them to the movies, arcade etc and then they invited my sister somewhere but not me I would be hurt. Human nature.

So the best I can figure, the purpose of this thread is to let everybody at the pod know that you have not one, not two, but three guest bedrooms. Because, really, white bedroom furniture is not so out there that you have to ask a board full of women if it is an okay choice.

Freebird is nasty. I can't imagine not wearing underwear with certain things like jeans or at the gym or during my cycle. Although I doubt she goes to the gym or wears workout pants. I also can't believe some of them only have 10 pair of underwear.

Two years ago I took my son to the skating rink for a Halloween party there was a black kid dressed as a convict, who let's their kid black or white wear a convict costume?
And it wasn't one of the old black and white striped prisoner garb but an orange jumpsuit with a name tag full of numbers and the big CONVICT patch on the back.
