Some people just have teeth that seem to be more prone to cavities. My dh is 45 and has two fillings. I'm the same age and just about every tooth has a filling of some type in it. And yes I brush, floss and use mouthwash but it doesn't matter. I look at a candy bar and get a cavity.
In DH's family, his dad has great teeth, and his mom has really soft teeth. Out of 5 siblings, they all brush and floss the same, but 3 have awesome teeth, and two have horrible cavities all the time. Multiple dentists have said it is due to genetics. DH was one of the lucky ones.

15+ yrs ago our DS was a target of two or three kids in middle school and it spilled over to the old internet instant messenger/"message board" with physical threats. long story short, that's how we nailed the little suckers-filed a complaint and had a cop come into the school and pull them out of class in front of everyone. Didn't have a single problem after that. But we also TAUGHT our son how to deal with the little assholes both in and out of school and that helped too.

Not everyone has the combination of factors that make it as easy as you make it sound. Those are the ones that die or are permenantly scarred.
The "I'm all right Jack", attitude is a prime reason for bullying going unchallenged in a serious manner both in schools and in the workplace.

I'm only 8 years of out of HS and bullying has gotten 10x worse, or else the media attention it has received has.
So what has changed since then? Besides technology which I'm not sure I would let my adolescent teen have full run of.
Are kids just becoming bigger wieners? And yes, I realize that comes off harsh, but seriously. Are we treating our little snowflakes with such kid gloves that they can't handle it when someone picks on them?
I think kids need to toughen up, but that doesn't mean ALL kids are just pussies who can't take the social drama. There are plenty of bullies who are straight up cunts and make the lives of any kid, tough or not, hell.

What do we really want? Do we want to raise people who think that if someone is violent and abusive, then the person being abused needs to toughen up? you are either ignorant or have your head in the sand. bullying is always grossly UNDER reported, that is one of the problems that makes it so insidious. And yes, the explosion of social media greatly increases the reach of the bully. it used to be kids at least had peace and refuge in the home, now, not so much as they still have to deal with the bullying on their fb and other social media.

Yubon does the same as CK. Being nasty to people on the board, without dragging their post history into it, is just as mean as what you define as classic bullying.
Some people just have teeth that seem to be more prone to cavities. My dh is 45 and has two fillings. I'm the same age and just about every tooth has a filling of some type in it. And yes I brush, floss and use mouthwash but it doesn't matter. I look at a candy bar and get a cavity.
In DH's family, his dad has great teeth, and his mom has really soft teeth. Out of 5 siblings, they all brush and floss the same, but 3 have awesome teeth, and two have horrible cavities all the time. Multiple dentists have said it is due to genetics. DH was one of the lucky ones.
When I lived in WA and subbed there before I got hired full time, I had to be a certificated teacher.

There's always been a group of kids that find targets to pick on (which is what USED to be called bullying). middle school years are the absolute pits that way. I think social media (FB/Twitter etc) have exacerbated the problem tho.
15+ yrs ago our DS was a target of two or three kids in middle school and it spilled over to the old internet instant messenger/"message board" with physical threats. long story short, that's how we nailed the little suckers-filed a complaint and had a cop come into the school and pull them out of class in front of everyone. Didn't have a single problem after that. But we also TAUGHT our son how to deal with the little assholes both in and out of school and that helped too.

Well 200 dollars for something you are going use every day for at LEAST 2 years is not a bad investment really. I carried mine till they were out of diapers/no longer needed a change of clothing for accidents.
