Not everyone qualifies for work/study programs. Not all universities offer enough work/study programs to fund all their graduate students. Typical koombaya view of life.
It didn't cost me any money to go to graduate school. Don't most people make money as graduate students? My student salary paid for all schooling costs and I have enough left over to cover about 1/2 of our monthly bills. Probably made more money than the uneducated SAHMs who are smacking on Peabay, Batya, and biochem for having an education. ;)

Perhaps, if you were pursuing your graduate degree fulltime and your only source of employment was whatever program your university offered. We used to call these folks "professional students".
Most people I know are gainfully employeed outside of academia and work on the masters/doctorate while employeed in whatever field their undergraduate degree happens to be. Some of their companies reimbursed them 100% (almost exclusively after-the-fact), other companies give their employees partial reimbursement and yet others give zip and it's up to the student to foot the expense.

Depends on the degree. PhD Science degrees pay you a stipend, tuition and medical. You are required to work in the lab full time and can not work outside. You have to sign a contract.

I am not a felon. Although I know how much you wish it were so. Facts are pesky.
I haven't been living, eating and breathing the Zimmerman trial so I admit I really don't know all the facts and nuances of that particular case and so I am no going to debate a topic that I have not been following. Just clarifying that in MOST cases, the jurors never hear from the defendant. That is a fact. It is up to the state to prove their case, not for the defense to prove their innocence. And that is obviously not something that you are familiar with since you insist on calling me a felon when the state has yet to prove that to be true or to even make an attempt to prove that at this point. I am innocent until proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt. That is the law.
Check out the reader comments on the verdict story on any conservative site....you'll see the same and worse. Much worse.

The whole fucking point, regardless of ANYTHING you have said so far, is that the percentage of jurors who state they would PREFER to hear from the defendant themselves is something approaching, oh I don't know, 99.99999999999999999%. Therefore THIS juror is probably FOS when stating otherwise. In other words she's either a fucking liar (why?), or (my best guess) she's serious about it BECAUSE she already had her mind made up before walking into that courtroom.
