As the only person other than the OP who has seen my mom's gray hair in person (although I haven't seen it since the new cut), I just have to let you guys know she DEFINITELY doesn't look 60, and to be honest, I don't think it ages her.
The photos she chose for her OP aren't great. The one with dark hair is sort of weird in my opinion - her camera does this face smoothing thing, and I think she looks younger in that picture than I'd say she looks in real life. Then the second photo is taken with a camera phone, her face is covered, and she's wearing more formal clothes. I can see how, from all of that together, the photos seem like she looks older (and that's all you guys have to go on). What you also can't see is how poor of condition all the coloring was making her hair when it was dark.
The gray looks GREAT on her, and she definitely looks right around 50, which is very appropriate and flattering for where she is in her life. Go Mom!

I still have every Scholastic book that I purchased as a child, even though that was more than 35 years ago. Not that there were that many, money was very tight and I had to save my allowances to purchase my own books.
My mom always encouraged us to read and we were frequent visitors to the library and book mobile. If I wanted to buy books I had to buy them with my own money. I think I treasured them all the more for that.
I used to love those flyers too and get so excited each time a new one came out. I remember one year when I was in grade four my best friend recommended a Phyllis Whitney young people's mystery to me. I wasn't normally a reader of mysteries but this one was about a horse and I was horse crazy.
That paperback book cost sixty cents, lol. I remember how interminable the wait seemed until that book order came in. Once I read it that book was one of my favourites. I still read it every few years. It takes me back to simpler times and I enjoy the story ss much and envision it as vividly as I did almost 40 years ago.
I have bought a few Scholastic books for my children, but as someone else mentioned we are huge garage salers and they have always had hundreds of books here at home, so it's been hard to justify the expense.

As the only person other than the OP who has seen my mom's gray hair in person (although I haven't seen it since the new cut), I just have to let you guys know she DEFINITELY doesn't look 60, and to be honest, I don't think it ages her.
The photos she chose for her OP aren't great. The one with dark hair is sort of weird in my opinion - her camera does this face smoothing thing, and I think she looks younger in that picture than I'd say she looks in real life. Then the second photo is taken with a camera phone, her face is covered, and she's wearing more formal clothes. I can see how, from all of that together, the photos seem like she looks older (and that's all you guys have to go on). What you also can't see is how poor of condition all the coloring was making her hair when it was dark.
The gray looks GREAT on her, and she definitely looks right around 50, which is very appropriate and flattering for where she is in her life. Go Mom!

If you have very few grays and your color basically the same shade as your natural color, you could maybe go that long between colorings.

I still have every Scholastic book that I purchased as a child, even though that was more than 35 years ago. Not that there were that many, money was very tight and I had to save my allowances to purchase my own books.
My mom always encouraged us to read and we were frequent visitors to the library and book mobile. If I wanted to buy books I had to buy them with my own money. I think I treasured them all the more for that.
I used to love those flyers too and get so excited each time a new one came out. I remember one year when I was in grade four my best friend recommended a Phyllis Whitney young people's mystery to me. I wasn't normally a reader of mysteries but this one was about a horse and I was horse crazy.
