He'd go from bar to bar, and to friends' houses while my mother was left with 8 children and would pull all-nighters playing Santa, putting dozens of perfectly wrapped gifts under the tree, doing special traditions with us before bed, etc. Then my father would stumble in at some point and usually fall and crush half the gifts or pull down some decorations. He'd wake us all up, dramatically declaring his (slurred) love for all of us. They'd fight, scream, threaten, repeat. Every year, never failed. He ruined every Xmas and Xmas Day. Then my mother died one Xmas.
But Xmas still was, and still is my favorite holiday. I'm not going to let him being an idiot ass father take that away. Now I make Xmas magical for my kids every year and make NEW memories.
I would understand if she couldn't make herself love Xmas like I've managed to do - you can't make yourself feel a certain way. But crying every day for a couple months each year is way over the top. That's her making a decision to do that. No way is she that upset after decades have gone by that she can't stop herself from crying every day like that.
My DH's aunt does the same. She disappears from mid-November to mid-January. Won't talk or see anyone. Stays in her house and wallows and hates all things holidays. If you even mention anything holiday related during the rest of the year she'll practically spit back at you about how stupid it all is. All because in 1978 she got divorced in December. Seriously.
Now over 30 years later she makes herself miserable for 2 months out of every 12 per year. B/C her divorce happened to be on a date in December. Ridiculous.

I'm on my second Keurig. Only because I wanted to upgrade from the mini to a Platinum. I gave the mini to my mom and it still works fine. As does my Platinum. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!
I went through 2 Keurigs in 2 years. Not buying a third. And yes, we did the maintenance and cleaning we were supposed to (my OCD made sure of that).
So ridiculous. The first coffee maker I owned lasted 12 years and cost probably $40. The Keurig Platinum was what...$230? Lasted 18 months.
I fully admit I read all the bad reviews after my first one died and still bought a 2nd one because Keurigs look cool and the individual cups are cool and everyone wants a Keurig, LOL. Bought a different "edition" thinking maybe it was the Platinum one that was the problem. Second one lasted 7 months.
Pieces of crap and worst customer service ever. Twice I called about my broken machines and twice I was super nice on the phone - twice they told me I was SOL.
Bought a $50 random coffee maker at Target after that and I've had it going on 4 years now with no problems at all. It's not cute, it's not fun, it's not the thing to have, but at least I'm not out another $500 and have nothing to show for it.

I bought a Keurig and cleaned it once a month. About 8 months later, it stopped heating the water as hot as it used to so the coffee was rather luke-warm.
I bought a $20 Mr. Coffee 4-cup pot from Target and have used it since. Perfect cup every time!
I'm glad that some have had great experiences with their Keurig. I know I will never buy another one.

I've had a Keurig for 3 years and it's still working fine. I follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning once a month which keeps it operating like new. Maybe a few lazy-assed peas should try actually MAINTAINING something properly instead of running it into the ground.

I'm on my second Keurig. Only because I wanted to upgrade from the mini to a Platinum. I gave the mini to my mom and it still works fine. As does my Platinum. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!

I went through 2 Keurigs in 2 years. Not buying a third. And yes, we did the maintenance and cleaning we were supposed to (my OCD made sure of that).
So ridiculous. The first coffee maker I owned lasted 12 years and cost probably $40. The Keurig Platinum was what...$230? Lasted 18 months.
I fully admit I read all the bad reviews after my first one died and still bought a 2nd one because Keurigs look cool and the individual cups are cool and everyone wants a Keurig, LOL. Bought a different "edition" thinking maybe it was the Platinum one that was the problem. Second one lasted 7 months.
Pieces of crap and worst customer service ever. Twice I called about my broken machines and twice I was super nice on the phone - twice they told me I was SOL.
Bought a $50 random coffee maker at Target after that and I've had it going on 4 years now with no problems at all. It's not cute, it's not fun, it's not the thing to have, but at least I'm not out another $500 and have nothing to show for it.

I bought a Keurig and cleaned it once a month. About 8 months later, it stopped heating the water as hot as it used to so the coffee was rather luke-warm.
I bought a $20 Mr. Coffee 4-cup pot from Target and have used it since. Perfect cup every time!
I'm glad that some have had great experiences with their Keurig. I know I will never buy another one.
