I love the EXEPEDIT bookcases. They come in all different sizes - I have one that has 8 cubbies, and two that have 4 cubbies. I bought the baskets that fit in each cubby and they're perfect for holding toys, my piano music, cookbooks, you name it. The 8 cubby one is used as a console table in my living room, and the others flank my piano.
I have a lot of their dish sets - they're inexpensive and I use them for parties. I also love their floating shelves.

I don't think remarkable means entitled, but I've observed that the brightest kids never really learn how to study. Everything in the early years comes to them too easily, so when they get to things they can't pick up right away (say, higher maths or a foreign language), they don't know how to study. Then they get discouraged and give up.

I have 3 friends/acquaintances with Down Syndrome children. One was 19, one was in her late 20's and one was in her early 30's when they had them. I didn't marry the first loser I dated. I waited for the right guy, then we planned our family after a couple of years of saving to buy our first home. I like having the cash to do the fun things in life. My friends who married young are still struggling and don't have a dime for retirement. So much for having your kids early and enjoying life while you're still young, lol!

Job training? We need low-skilled labor. Why should anyone expect skill training on the backs of their neighbors?

Several of my couple friends that are struggling, are together because they accidentally got pregnant, so they got married. I love the EXEPEDIT bookcases. They come in all different sizes - I have one that has 8 cubbies, and two that have 4 cubbies. I bought the baskets that fit in each cubby and they're perfect for holding toys, my piano music, cookbooks, you name it. The 8 cubby one is used as a console table in my living room, and the others flank my piano.
I have a lot of their dish sets - they're inexpensive and I use them for parties. I also love their floating shelves.
Make sure you have lunch (or dinner) in the IKEA cafeteria. Their swedish meatballs are yummy!

I have 3 friends/acquaintances with Down Syndrome children. One was 19, one was in her late 20's and one was in her early 30's when they had them. I didn't marry the first loser I dated. I waited for the right guy, then we planned our family after a couple of years of saving to buy our first home. I like having the cash to do the fun things in life. My friends who married young are still struggling and don't have a dime for retirement. So much for having your kids early and enjoying life while you're still young, lol!
Jesus, waiting 10-15 years until you're in your late 20's - early 30's is not some kind of medical catastrophe.
Use those years to get some higher education, established a career, live on your own, bank some savings (emergency & retirement), buy a home, travel, party, date around, and finally, spend a few years making sure you're compatable long-term with your baby-daddy-to-be.

Good! I see no reason why taxpayers should be paying for young adults to go to college. Nor do I think taxpayers should be paying for preschool for the offspring of their fellow citizens. Job training? We need low-skilled labor. Why should anyone expect skill training on the backs of their neighbors?

I think a HUGE part of waiting to have babies until you are a bit more financially stable, is also making sure the partner you have is the person you want to be with. Several of my couple friends that are struggling, are together because they accidentally got pregnant, so they got married. Had they been able to wait a few years, my bet is that they would have broken up instead. If you do have to scrape by for a few years, it is a million times easier to do it with a supportive partner.
