Less and less men are handy now because those skills aren't passed on anymore. I'm lucky that my husband is very knowledgable with cars and unless it is a serious issue he can usually diagnose, fix the problem and not charge me an arm and a leg ;). I'm also happy that my dad took the time to teach me some basic household fixes before I moved out on my own. But I know so many people that hire out help to install a curtain rod or to snake their shower drains.
