I think we are doing them all a disservice by catering to this part of the population. Seriously? Where will they go when their parents die and are no longer around to care for them? My SIL is 30 and is in LOVE with all things Disney! The wedding was Cinderella themed. The nursery is Lion King themed--to make it gender neutral. They went to Disney World on their honeymoon! There is Disney shit all over their house! It looks like a WDW gift shop threw up in there.

Nope 134, I have foods I don't like such as liver and lima beans but I HAVE eaten them in the past, as a child. Same with olives. I've tried them and won't eat them. I do however love fish. My DH won't eat them at all. We are both neurotypical adults who hold down full time jobs in addition to raising a family.
Kids with special needs are being raised totally differently than special needs kids were when I was growing up. My complaints about Aspie kids is that we are not doing them any favors by mollycoddling them as children. They will become helpless adults who will rely on govt assistance to survive as adults, if that's even possible.
A former coworker has a teenage son with Aspergers. He is mainstreamed in a regular school.He is highly intelligent but somewhat socially awkward. His mother didn't cater to him as the pea Aspie moms do. They aren't doing their special sneauxflakes any favors.
I avoid the local WalMart because it's crowded and full of people that need to shower or look in the mirror before they leave. I avoid Target because the clothes run small and I have yet to meet a helpful person there. I think I go to both places 2 times a year.
My daughter worked at Target for over a year as a teen and she was treated very well there. It was no dream job, it wasn't intended to be, but they were not a bad company to work for as a teenager. She got 2 raises in just a year and they would give her 40 hours every week if she wanted them and she sometimes got overtime as well. She was offered their benefits but didn't need them as our family insurance was better and she accrued vacation time and got paid holidays. She quit because she was going to college but every time she goes in to the store she worked, they always tell her they want her back.
I hate to go to Wal-Mart because of their clientele. For some reason, people around here are less likely to beat the snot out of their kids at Target but at Wal-Mart it is a regular event. No, no they won't. Aspergers is a DX that does not qualify for SSDI.
There's no reason for anyone with Aspergers to be on SSDI anyway. They are fully verbal and while they may not be able to work in some stressful jobs, there are plenty of jobs that they are perfectly suited to. Half the employees at high tech companies in Silicon Valley are Aspies. They are the original geeks.
My brother worked at Target as a second job after he finished up his day job setting up pop displays for Pepsi. He was late ONCE and they FIRED him immediately! So, they weren't so nice and he was NOT a seasonal employee but a regular part-timer.
Yeah, the employee discount was nice but they weren't very accommodating towards my brother, he was working the 2nd job while trying to pay off school loans as he'd just graduated with his teaching degree but no job. I like the different variety of what Target has over Walmart. I do agree however that their clothing for women runs VERY small! I wear a L top due to my big boobs but can BARELY squeeze into an XXL at Target!

Here is what happens in the real world when pampered spoiled kids get away from their parents: I was at the grocery store, and only had a few items so I used the self check-out. There were 4 of them, I went to one and started checking out. A guy (Around 15 or so) came up behind me, and asked me if I could hurry up. I politely replied that the other three were open. He looked at me with wide eyes, and said that he always used that one, and he was in a hurry. He then asked if *I* would move to a different one. Jesus, people will find anything to bitch about. She worked OT when she wanted, not much, mainly during the holiday rush. My daughter learned the value of a good work ethic, something a good many of you bitches would know nothing about. She saved every penny of every paycheck and used the funds to purchase a new car before she went to college. She accomplished more by the age of 18 than many of you will in your lifetime.
Socially, she is doing just fine. She did have to give up the bullying at high school so she might have a harder time here than I do but she is the President of a student organization in college and has a wonderful boyfriend that treats her like a queen.
I know that you all probably have public school educations and some of you are probably teachers so you take it as a personal affront that someone somewhere in the world is making a different choice than you. Heaven forbid. I'm sad that your worldviews are so incredibly limited that you can't even imagine that somebody doing something differently than yourself could be successful at it. You won't ever change but hopefully if any of you have spawn they will be more enlightened than you. Doubtful though. It's ok, we do need the lower educated masses to work jobs like Target in their 40s. Why, where else would we get managers?
BTW, my almost 18 year old son is preparing to enter the workforce in his shitty first job too. I make my kids work a shitty job so they know what they DON'T want to do forever. They aren't coddled and their educations are intense. And their public schooled friends? Most have already flunked out of the college that their parents payed for and are now working food service as their career, without much hope of going back to school. But hey, you keep doing things your way and I'll keep doing them mine.

1.I cannot prevent the death of my grandfather so whether I spend time online or read a book it really doesn't matter what I do with my spare time. If the doctors can't fix him, I can't either.

5. And finally, my latest drama is related to the death of my grandfather. It is forcing me to have contact with my mother whom I cut out of my life 8 years ago for very good reason. Let me know when she has bled you dry and then turned around and spit on you for your trouble. The problem with some "aspie" moms is that instead of helping their child to conform with social norms they expect society to have to deal with their child.
This generation coming up of special kids will be the first that instead of kid learning to deal with real life everyone tip toes around the kid.

Nope 134, I have foods I don't like such as liver and lima beans but I HAVE eaten them in the past, as a child. Same with olives. I've tried them and won't eat them. I do however love fish. My DH won't eat them at all. We are both neurotypical adults who hold down full time jobs in addition to raising a family.
Kids with special needs are being raised totally differently than special needs kids were when I was growing up. My complaints about Aspie kids is that we are not doing them any favors by mollycoddling them as children. They will become helpless adults who will rely on govt assistance to survive as adults, if that's even possible.

I don't shop at Wal-Mart for reasons other than how they treat their employees.
I avoid the local WalMart because it's crowded and full of people that need to shower or look in the mirror before they leave. I avoid Target because the clothes run small and I have yet to meet a helpful person there. I think I go to both places 2 times a year.
My daughter worked at Target for over a year as a teen and she was treated very well there. It was no dream job, it wasn't intended to be, but they were not a bad company to work for as a teenager. She got 2 raises in just a year and they would give her 40 hours every week if she wanted them and she sometimes got overtime as well. She was offered their benefits but didn't need them as our family insurance was better and she accrued vacation time and got paid holidays. She quit because she was going to college but every time she goes in to the store she worked, they always tell her they want her back.

No, no they won't. Aspergers is a DX that does not qualify for SSDI.
There's no reason for anyone with Aspergers to be on SSDI anyway. They are fully verbal and while they may not be able to work in some stressful jobs, there are plenty of jobs that they are perfectly suited to. Half the employees at high tech companies in Silicon Valley are Aspies. They are the original geeks.

My brother worked at Target as a second job after he finished up his day job setting up pop displays for Pepsi. He was late ONCE and they FIRED him immediately! So, they weren't so nice and he was NOT a seasonal employee but a regular part-timer.
Yeah, the employee discount was nice but they weren't very accommodating towards my brother, he was working the 2nd job while trying to pay off school loans as he'd just graduated with his teaching degree but no job.

It's obvious that there are one or two freaks here who get off on trying to cause a bunch of infighting.
Here is what happens in the real world when pampered spoiled kids get away from their parents: I was at the grocery store, and only had a few items so I used the self check-out. There were 4 of them, I went to one and started checking out. A guy (Around 15 or so) came up behind me, and asked me if I could hurry up. I politely replied that the other three were open. He looked at me with wide eyes, and said that he always used that one, and he was in a hurry. He then asked if *I* would move to a different one. Ummm, I'm half way through, so no, I'm not moving to start over. I replied nicely with a smile, but his face looked crushed. He waited for me to finish, then started his checking out.
I was polite in talking to him, but I can imagine others would not have been so nice in talking with him.
I'm not posting this at the bukkit, as I'm sure some mom would call me a meanie for not cancelling my transaction and moving to a different checkout so he could use "his"

Jesus, people will find anything to bitch about. She worked OT when she wanted, not much, mainly during the holiday rush. My daughter learned the value of a good work ethic, something a good many of you bitches would know nothing about. She saved every penny of every paycheck and used the funds to purchase a new car before she went to college. She accomplished more by the age of 18 than many of you will in your lifetime.
Socially, she is doing just fine. She did have to give up the bullying at high school so she might have a harder time here than I do but she is the President of a student organization in college and has a wonderful boyfriend that treats her like a queen.
I know that you all probably have public school educations and some of you are probably teachers so you take it as a personal affront that someone somewhere in the world is making a different choice than you. Heaven forbid. I'm sad that your worldviews are so incredibly limited that you can't even imagine that somebody doing something differently than yourself could be successful at it. You won't ever change but hopefully if any of you have spawn they will be more enlightened than you. Doubtful though. It's ok, we do need the lower educated masses to work jobs like Target in their 40s. Why, where else would we get managers?
BTW, my almost 18 year old son is preparing to enter the workforce in his shitty first job too. I make my kids work a shitty job so they know what they DON'T want to do forever. They aren't coddled and their educations are intense. And their public schooled friends? Most have already flunked out of the college that their parents payed for and are now working food service as their career, without much hope of going back to school. But hey, you keep doing things your way and I'll keep doing them mine.

No, I think highly of my children. And homeschooling has worked fabulously for them so far. It isn't for everyone but I am sick and damned tired of people thinking it is a good reason to tear my kids down. I realize that for people to admit that my kids are doing great with their homeschool education, they might have to give me a shred of credit since I am their teacher. Sorry if that is painful for folks.

FBI Director Robert Mueller acknowledged Wednesday that the bureau has a limited number of drones that it uses for surveillance on U.S. soil.
The practice, however limited, could raise further concern about government snooping amid the ongoing controversy over the administration's phone- and Internet-tracking programs.
Mueller addressed the matter during a Senate hearing on Capitol Hill, under questioning from Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa.
Asked if the FBI has drones, Mueller said, "Yes, and for surveillance."

My daughter, who has a 4.0 so far in college, and has won awards in college (such as a writing competition and a speech competition among others) will surely be dumb as a stump and completely useless as soon as she finishes college. What measure of success must be obtained before you say, you know, that one is doing all right? She has already bested every single one of her peers that she attended public school with. I'll let you know when she gets her phd. I'm sure that until she cures cancer and attains world peace though, it will be too soon to be proud of her. You bitches are the parents who nothing is ever good enough for. Lucky kids you've got.
