Somethings I can see the kids sharing, tv's and computers, but a Nintendo DS just isn't one of them. You can get decent used ones at gamestop and you could buy one every month starting in September then each kid could have their own for Christmas. I can also see making them share the games. You really don't need three copies of every game.
And if you can afford to spoil you kids but don't that's great too. No kid should get everything on their Christmas list but don't be a Mrs. T scrooge either.

I have my son sweep and dust ONE room in our house, the family room. He has to do it every week. But now it is more like 1-2 times per month. (I do it all the time, but still want him to learn responsibility)
It should take him 30 minutes, seeing that I do it almost every day.
Last week when I asked him to do these chores, I got complaints that he is so busy and just wants to do nothing. I made him do it anyway, reminding him that soccer is out for 6 weeks, he has had a lot more time.
This week I didn't want to deal with this, so I did it for him. His father and I, at seperate times, told him that I did his chores. His only comment was to make sure I wasn't going to have him do his sisters. I explained that since I did his, I would also do hers.
My son went downstairs to join a friend on Xbox live. Twice. I called him on not saying thank you or anything. He shrugged and then I said that next time he wanted to do something fun that I would not help him, nor would I pay for it.
He turned around at an hour later, still with his friend on Xbox.
This is not about the chores, but how ungrateful he is being. He will be 12 in a couple weeks, and this seems to be his new attitude. So going to nip this in the bud.
I did his chore, I did his sisters chore. He is enjoying his time on Xbox. Golly day do I hope he enjoys it, because next time he is invited somewhere fun I won't help. No ride, no money.
This new phase better not last long. Even great kids, can make great mess ups. The joys of parenting.
I sure hope I am handling this right. I tried to avoid the fight by just doing the darn chores in the first place. I didn't imagine he would have this attitude about my help.

Somethings I can see the kids sharing, tv's and computers, but a Nintendo DS just isn't one of them. You can get decent used ones at gamestop and you could buy one every month starting in September then each kid could have their own for Christmas. I can also see making them share the games. You really don't need three copies of every game.

They own a 1980s brick colonial in an ordinary middle class neighborhood in Charlotte, and then a small house in another ordinary neighborhood in Mooresville, close to Lake Norman but not on the lake, you can't call it a lake house if it's 10 miles from the lake I guess. It was easy to find that information in the public record of land transactions, nothing impressive about either property.

I have my son sweep and dust ONE room in our house, the family room. He has to do it every week. But now it is more like 1-2 times per month.
(I do it all the time, but still want him to learn responsibility)
It should take him 30 minutes, seeing that I do it almost every day.
Last week when I asked him to do these chores, I got complaints that he is so busy and just wants to do nothing. I made him do it anyway, reminding him that soccer is out for 6 weeks, he has had a lot more time.
This week I didn't want to deal with this, so I did it for him. His father and I, at seperate times, told him that I did his chores. His only comment was to make sure I wasn't going to have him do his sisters. I explained that since I did his, I would also do hers.
My son went downstairs to join a friend on Xbox live. Twice. I called him on not saying thank you or anything. He shrugged and then I said that next time he wanted to do something fun that I would not help him, nor would I pay for it.
He turned around at an hour later, still with his friend on Xbox.
This is not about the chores, but how ungrateful he is being. He will be 12 in a couple weeks, and this seems to be his new attitude. So going to nip this in the bud.
I did his chore, I did his sisters chore. He is enjoying his time on Xbox. Golly day do I hope he enjoys it, because next time he is invited somewhere fun I won't help. No ride, no money.
This new phase better not last long. Even great kids, can make great mess ups.

I'd rather people who didn't want kids didn't have them and I don't care what reasons they use. I love being a parent, but it's not always fun or easy and I can't blame someone who doesn't want to do it. It's not a great gig and, yes, you spend less money and time on yourself than you would otherwise (Or you should). I don't like Pennyring, but if she's realized she's not the mother type, good on her for not having children. It's a good bit smarter than some peas who obviously resent their children, but had them anyhow.

Well that's not enough according the the Dave Ramsey peas. They should have four years worth of college money for both boys, enough so even if they want to go to Harvard they can.

Raintree is on Hwy 51 in Charlotte. I believe it's near the Arboretum where there's a Walmart.
The homes listed in the link may be on the golf course and could be why they are more pricey, but they are considered middle class for that area.
I personally would never buy a house in Raintree. They do have lower priced homes but they were poorly constructed and the crime/traffic is horrible.
