I would never in a million gazillion years go backpacking in the Alps, and yet even I get why Pudgy and her DH would want to take the kid along on the kind of trip they enjoy. It's not all that hard to understand. So you ignorant bitches who think Disney is the height of family fun (and that's where I take my kids, too) should shut the hell up.
Unless their spending your money it doesn't matter where anyone vacations. ------------
This could be said about any fucking thing, but hello this is the blog, we judge, it's what we do! Don't tell us not to pass judgement on the SMACK blog. lol

Well break it down for us genius because I don't understand?
I'm just astounded at the lack of imagination and creativity. If a vacation does not fit into your nice neat little box of thought called 'vacation', then it must not be worth doing at all. +++++++++++++++++++++++
No one is saying that. In fact everyone has said hiking is not my thing but whatever floats her boat is fine for vacation. The issue at hand is why bring along a preschooler that 1. won't remember the trip thus a waste of airfare money 2. carrying a preschooler for 2 weeks 3. traveling with one backpack 4. no medical care, if the child got a cold she'd make the whole trip miserable
Well break it down for us genius because I don't understand?

If you read the thread, she also talks about other hiking trips they have gone on (her honeymoon). For families with a passion, they include their children. I'm sure they will go on many more hiking trips. Plus, the child is almost 4, I bet she will remember parts of the trip.
The hating on the backpack vacation doesn't make sense. They want to take a vacation and since their kid won't remember any of it no matter where they go, they pick where they want and choose to to accommodate their youngster on their vacation.
If the reason it's a waste of money for a ticket is because she won't remember then by your logic they should just never vacation at all until she's old enough to remember. You're really fucking dense. Or a killjoy. Probably both.
The only problem I can see about the Europe hiking vacation is what if the 3yo gets sick. It's not like you can just pop over to you pediatricians. Yes I know Italy has doctors and one of the adults could have gotten sick also but they would have been able to deal with it better then a preschooler.
++++++++++++++++++
You react no different than if the family was camping and hiking in the US and the kid got sick.
Seriously, some of you need to experience the world outside your door. Europe is not the fucking dark side of the moon. I promise you.

And the people who are whining about the money spent on Kid Pudge: it sounds like the Pudge family is financially stable enough to swing it, and although Kid Pudge won't remember it, Parental Pudges will remember the fun they had with Kid.
Yep, it would be so much better if pudge was on welfare, wic and SNAP. Then they could just vacation to the trailer park. Forget about how selling airline tickets and getting people on planes keep airline employees in business and all.
Along the same lines, it always baffles me when peas complain about people that employ housekeepers. Only the peas could take paying someone to provide a service, and therefore keeping the house cleaner in business as a bad thing.
won't remember the trip thus a waste of airfare money
#############################################
Start twisting your panties:
We took our 3 month old GS to Hawaii.
My hard-earned money paid for the baby's *expensive* airfare and I was happy to do so. In fact we paid for all three of our kids.
I could give a rat's ass that our GS won't remember. His parents and his grandparents (us) have fantastic memories, lots of happy times and family bonding, and lots of pictures documenting the trip.
If you read the thread, she also talks about other hiking trips they have gone on (her honeymoon). For families with a passion, they include their children. Thank you from #201. All I meant was it's a vacation they enjoy so of course they want to introduce their kid to it, too. If they're willing to put up with a preschooler on this hike and pay her way, who am I to tell them otherwise.
(And for the record, I would not find this a fun trip in any way.)
And as for if the kid gets sick, that could happen on a backpacking trip in the U.S., too. They weren't going to be out in the wilderness, they were staying in hostels every night. Civilization is around every corner.
I don't understand the mentality of not doing things when a kid is too young to remember them. Why even bother parenting at all? I'll leave the baby at home with the dog while I go party. He won't remember.

34 - I get that you think she's stupid, but why do you think her kids are ugly? As for her anniversary thread, it looks like she's just ignoring buttercup. Sorry if I'm in the minority here, but there are annoying things about jill but a low IQ isn't one of them.
It's obvious that Jill is starving for attention. Her "look at me" behavior has me convinced that she has no friends in her real life and her family pays no attention to her.
I don't know - to me she just seems like someone that doesn't take herself too seriously. She certainly doesn't post enough to show that she has no other life. And on the thread, she said why the picture was blurry. It's cropped from a larger picture or something. I'd take her over other peas any day.

I told Steve we should always travel with a young kid - I think people were really nice because of it. She was always getting free stuff and special desserts from the kitchen - people were so nice! She learned some Italian words and phrases and said them all the time - she was our little ambassador.
And it is funny what kids remember. I don't think Norah cares if we were to camp in our backyard or sleep in a hut in Italy. We visited the Grand Canyon and her favorite thing was the shuttle bus. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

yeah, jill's always been a lonely, desperate attention whore. Lately though, she's not bugging me nearly as much as that newlywed chick.
Jill's annoying, but her kids look just fine. Heck, Jill would look better in the wedding pic if she lost the Barbara Walters vaseline lens.
Jill would look better if she put a bag over her head.
