I live in a big city and don't even pay that much for a hair cut and color. ------------- Not surprising. Salons that step things up in a small to mid-sized town can make good money. They are often the bedroom communities of big cities or a "must live" place for well to do. Combine that with less competition and a nice drive for anything close to the same level and it is a recipe for a nice profit for the right business person.
I lived in a tiny town growing up and one salon started offering coffee/tea/soda while you wait and doing hair color in non-traditional colors (blue/green/purple) they also played current music loud enough to hear in the entire salon and had a selection of trendy clothes in one corner. You would have thought they invented fashion and hair cutting they way people flocked there. The prices were several times any place else in the local area but it was over a hour drive to the next salon that offered similar services.
Thread turned from "Poor me, my dog died" to everyone giving their sympathy to Cindy for losing her son. If that isn't a big ass eye-opener for the OP, then nothing is.
Oh, and I would take my 3-year old to Disney, fuck going somewhere quiet where we can relax. Who relaxes with a 3-year old?
