My oldest is now 7, and it hasn't been touched, other than to move some of it into a better investment. It's nice for you to paint all SAHM's with the same brush, but that is not the case at my house.

Yes, I could. We planned for me to stay home. That means I worked for 5 years in the field I have my degree in, we have adequate life and disability insurance, I regularly see my former co-workers and supervisors as well as network in my industry, the cushion I built while I was working could keep us afloat for at least 12 months if it did take me longer to find a job, and we only had as many kids as we could afford. So, yes, if my DH were to leave/die/get disabled/whatever, I am certain I could support my family. The responsibility for my family is left up to my DH and I, no one else. Again, not all SAHM's are lazy moochers.

I know two women, one who other then having kids has no skills or training as a pre school teacher but she got the job with a school district, not a church. Better pay and benefits.
The other applied for a state job didn't meet the minimum qualifications, her resume never made it through the first round. Her boss simply asked for her resume to be pushed through so she could hire her. They only advertised the job because they had to. Anyone else applying didn't stand a chance.
I'm going with all perfect peas redecorates for dinner guests. As well as having a bathroom with hand towels that no one may use, preparing the meal from full organic food which includes raising and slaughtering her own cow while wearing kitten heels and creating her own fabulous recipes, no copying already been cooked before meals for her.

We have only had Aldi for less than a year and man I love that place. The prices can't be beat and what really surprises me is the selection. When I started going there I thought OK maybe I can get some canned goods, milk and eggs. I have been really pleased with 95% of what I have bought there and I use their great return policy to take back anything that isn't so great.
This week they had thin mints and samoa cookies! Those our are favorite Girl Scout cookies and my boys and ds were really excited about it. The cornbread crackers are great! The broccoli was great as was the price. Today they had pretzels that are in a can (refrigerated section) in regular and cinnamon flavor that you can twist and bake in your oven! How cool is that?? They were $2.29 and my boys LOVE pretzels.

I often help out new moms or people recovering from surgery with meals and/or house cleaning. I would be livid to find out that someone asked for help when they have both their DH and mom available to help, and that the surgery was an elective plastic surgery. Where are her older sons? Why can't they help out?

Did you even read my post? Yes, I could. We planned for me to stay home. That means I worked for 5 years in the field I have my degree in, we have adequate life and disability insurance, I regularly see my former co-workers and supervisors as well as network in my industry, the cushion I built while I was working could keep us afloat for at least 12 months if it did take me longer to find a job, and we only had as many kids as we could afford. So, yes, if my DH were to leave/die/get disabled/whatever, I am certain I could support my family. The responsibility for my family is left up to my DH and I, no one else. Again, not all SAHM's are lazy moochers.

No matter WHAT your field is...the fact that you haven't worked in it in over SEVEN years is a lot of time away. Things change. ALL the time, no matter what field you are(WERE)in.

I just think it is funny how much you want to tear me down, when I have done all I could to prepare. How many two income families have done as much before have having kids? I'm not smug because I network. I am confident that I have done what I could before I was out of the workforce. I have the drive to succeed, so if I was not able to get a job in my field, I am confident I could live far below our means and make the savings last even longer. Sure, things could happen, but I am confident in the planning I have done.

I will say this for 124 she's right about networking, who you know matters. It's tough to get a job these days and having a in helps a great deal.
I know two women, one who other then having kids has no skills or training as a pre school teacher but she got the job with a school district, not a church. Better pay and benefits.
The other applied for a state job didn't meet the minimum qualifications, her resume never made it through the first round. Her boss simply asked for her resume to be pushed through so she could hire her. They only advertised the job because they had to. Anyone else applying didn't stand a chance.
I'm going with all perfect peas redecorates for dinner guests. As well as having a bathroom with hand towels that no one may use, preparing the meal from full organic food which includes raising and slaughtering her own cow while wearing kitten heels and creating her own fabulous recipes, no copying already been cooked before meals for her.

We have only had Aldi for less than a year and man I love that place. The prices can't be beat and what really surprises me is the selection. When I started going there I thought OK maybe I can get some canned goods, milk and eggs. I have been really pleased with 95% of what I have bought there and I use their great return policy to take back anything that isn't so great.
This week they had thin mints and samoa cookies! Those our are favorite Girl Scout cookies and my boys and ds were really excited about it. The cornbread crackers are great! The broccoli was great as was the price. Today they had pretzels that are in a can (refrigerated section) in regular and cinnamon flavor that you can twist and bake in your oven! How cool is that?? They were $2.29 and my boys LOVE pretzels.

I often help out new moms or people recovering from surgery with meals and/or house cleaning. I would be livid to find out that someone asked for help when they have both their DH and mom available to help, and that the surgery was an elective plastic surgery. Where are her older sons? Why can't they help out?
