Research has shown that the large majority of home schoolers do so for religious reasons. While there are some "success" stories, ie Every.Single.Pea that home schools their kid boasts about their child going on to an Ivy League/Highly Competitive school (and is a successful doctor, lawyer, etc) (insert eye roll here), the majority go no further in their educations.
Many homeschoolers and Charter Schoolers do re-enter public school - and they are alarmingly behind their peers.
I don't doubt there are some successes (and of course we hear about those), but the homeschool/charter school failures are far higher than what is publicly known.
One is weird, butmshe is just like me, I'm pretty weird too, but I went to public school. It happens. Some kids are just weird!
The other is totally cool- seriously, she is the cool kid in the neighborhood everyone wants to be friends with. I actually worry shell be a mean girl.
We home school because we move a lot, and it works for us. One of my kids has some rather serious issues that don't fit well with a classroom setting. It happens.
I actually can't stand the fun die home schoolers, I think they will wreck it for the rest of us trying to do right by our kids. But for the most part, the pea home school kids seem pretty mainstream. Compared to the real crazy, that is.

Still, it's M2's kids that will suffer when she fucks the homeschooling up royally, and then can "just send them back to public school."
I've seen some doozies get sent back to public schools after supposedly being homeschooled. Trainwreck doesn't quite cover it.

Research has shown that the large majority of home schoolers do so for religious reasons. While there are some "success" stories, ie Every.Single.Pea that home schools their kid boasts about their child going on to an Ivy League/Highly Competitive school (and is a successful doctor, lawyer, etc) (insert eye roll here), the majority go no further in their educations.
Many homeschoolers and Charter Schoolers do re-enter public school - and they are alarmingly behind their peers.
I don't doubt there are some successes (and of course we hear about those), but the homeschool/charter school failures are far higher than what is publicly known.
I love the comments from Anna..both my kids were homeschooled and look how successful they are now!!
Homeschooled kids are usually socially inept, and the kids of fucking weird intensely religious parents.
