Could you imagine if you went through fertility treatments and then years later found out someone adopted your fertilized egg and gave birth to a kid that looked just like you and your DH? It would totally freak me out. I just can't wrap my head around that concept.
Granted, I know nothing about fertility treatments, but was wondering about the ownership of the eggs not used. Is it generally the case that you have to give them over to facility you went to? Not that I believe they're living things like some do. However, they do make it possible for a kid to made like in the instance above.

A lady at work is doing IVF and she & her DH have like 40 fertilized eggs. So far they have 1 baby. If they decide after 2 or 3 not to have more and they want to donate the eggs to someone else, then they should be able to do that if they want. I don't like MissJen on the board, but how she got the baby is not something I think is a big deal...and I've never needed infertility of any sort so I'm not coming from that aspect. Technology has changed and people get babies in a number of ways, as long as all the donors are OK with it, then why not?

Not entirely true. Grumpeas was a board set up by BEP when 2peas was constantly going down. Those addicted to peaing couldn't cope with the fact that 2peas would go offline with out any warning.
BEP starts the Grumpeas board and invites everyone to join. It had a chat room and at night the "tier one" grumps would get drunk and chat. Some of the stuff that was revealed was quite shocking. As the grumps became better friends they decided they didn't want to include EVERYONE. They made private message boards and only invited certain people to join in.
I participated in some of the late night chats (this is where we learned Miss Jen caught her husband viewing gay porn) but left the board when the girls would purposely go stir up shit at the bucket and then return to the grump board patting themselves on the back.
The whole board blew up when the group met for a retreat in Arizona. It's been so long I can't remember exactly what happened, but it involved Miss Jen, Libis, and some others driving by the house of one of the former grumps and poking fun at her. Real mature.

Granted, I know nothing about fertility treatments, but was wondering about the ownership of the eggs not used. Is it generally the case that you have to give them over to facility you went to? Not that I believe they're living things like some do. However, they do make it possible for a kid to made like in the instance above.

It's not a secret, the donors knew full well, what was happening. I think I remember MissJen posting that she met the donors, or at least had been in contact with them & may be in the future.
I don't have a problem with egg or sperm donations, or adoptions. If the donors have fertilized eggs left but their family is 'done' I then don't see why you can't donate/sell them to someone else.
A lady at work is doing IVF and she & her DH have like 40 fertilized eggs. So far they have 1 baby. If they decide after 2 or 3 not to have more and they want to donate the eggs to someone else, then they should be able to do that if they want.
I don't like MissJen on the board, but how she got the baby is not something I think is a big deal...and I've never needed infertility of any sort so I'm not coming from that aspect.
Technology has changed and people get babies in a number of ways, as long as all the donors are OK with it, then why not?
OK, I must be missing something. So MissJenn had a fertile egg implanted in her instead of adopting a baby? So she brought a child into this world even though there are babies that need adoption? Isn't that like, I dunno, adopting a puppy from a breeder versus the shelter?

Not entirely true. Grumpeas was a board set up by BEP when 2peas was constantly going down. Those addicted to peaing couldn't cope with the fact that 2peas would go offline with out any warning.
BEP starts the Grumpeas board and invites everyone to join. It had a chat room and at night the "tier one" grumps would get drunk and chat. Some of the stuff that was revealed was quite shocking. As the grumps became better friends they decided they didn't want to include EVERYONE. They made private message boards and only invited certain people to join in.
I participated in some of the late night chats (this is where we learned Miss Jen caught her husband viewing gay porn) but left the board when the girls would purposely go stir up shit at the bucket and then return to the grump board patting themselves on the back.
The whole board blew up when the group met for a retreat in Arizona. It's been so long I can't remember exactly what happened, but it involved Miss Jen, Libis, and some others driving by the house of one of the former grumps and poking fun at her. Real mature.
