I think nannying or baby sitting may give you an idea of parenting but it's not even remotely close to actually being a parent. Changing a baby and holding them are easy peasy, parenting day in and out not so much.

ITA with 157. I think Bostonheart has more of an idea of what to expect than a lot of people. She definitely has way more experience with babies and kids than I did before my first was born. I never babysat a baby or changed a diaper, there just weren't any babies around.
It's not learning how to hold a baby or change a diaper that makes parenting difficult. It's being the parent day in, day out, 24 hours a day, no one to take the responsibility away, for 18 years or more, that makes it so grueling. Nannying doesn't prepare you for THAT.

ITA with 157. I think Bostonheart has more of an idea of what to expect than a lot of people. She definitely has way more experience with babies and kids than I did before my first was born. I never babysat a baby or changed a diaper, there just weren't any babies around.

It's not learning how to hold a baby or change a diaper that makes parenting difficult. It's being the parent day in, day out, 24 hours a day, no one to take the responsibility away, for 18 years or more, that makes it so grueling. Nannying doesn't prepare you for THAT.
