I have had the best success when I stopped dieting. I will allow myself to eat anything but I crave (for the most part) the healthier stuff. If I had the not good choices it is large amounts. I had gastric bypass and can tell you that for me that tool has been key to me being successful. I can still sabotage the heck out of it if I want and have had seasons of failing. When I don't do great I brush myself off and move on. I don't let it be a, "I am doing bad now" marker but a oh that meal wasn't a great choice or that day or week were crappy and I move on. I lived to many years with realizing that 2 lbs becomes 4 and becomes 10 and 10 becomes 20. I have lived that my whole life. I get on the scale now almost daily to monitor and for me that has worked.

I just received my water bill(s) from our Village. We have a sprinkler system, which has been disconnected (because of winter) since early October. We usually reconnect in early May. We receive two separate bills, one for sprinkler, one for regular use.
So I get a bill and it is for $26 for Dec.-Feb. It has water and storm listed. I call the Village and ask why I have a bill when my system is off. There has been no water usage, therefore, no sewer usage. I am told it is a "base" bill. In other words -no reason other then two years ago the Village Board decided to bill sprinkler owners 4 times a year instead of 2 times a year. I'm furious.
I'm mad at myself for not noticing this bill for the past two years. It is crazy that we are paying for a utility that is not even being used - let along not even connected!

1. Voting is done locally at your neighborhood school, firehouse, etc. - walkable distance, no transportation required. (Also, too: mail-in voting - def. no car needed.)

Leaning toward clean eating, whole grains and limit those, limited carbs, limited sugar (my weakness) and portion control.
I have had the best success when I stopped dieting. I will allow myself to eat anything but I crave (for the most part) the healthier stuff. If I had the not good choices it is large amounts. I had gastric bypass and can tell you that for me that tool has been key to me being successful. I can still sabotage the heck out of it if I want and have had seasons of failing. When I don't do great I brush myself off and move on. I don't let it be a, "I am doing bad now" marker but a oh that meal wasn't a great choice or that day or week were crappy and I move on. I lived to many years with realizing that 2 lbs becomes 4 and becomes 10 and 10 becomes 20. I have lived that my whole life. I get on the scale now almost daily to monitor and for me that has worked.

Had anyone ever contacted a Consumer Advocate Group for help?
I just received my water bill(s) from our Village. We have a sprinkler system, which has been disconnected (because of winter) since early October. We usually reconnect in early May. We receive two separate bills, one for sprinkler, one for regular use.
So I get a bill and it is for $26 for Dec.-Feb. It has water and storm listed. I call the Village and ask why I have a bill when my system is off. There has been no water usage, therefore, no sewer usage. I am told it is a "base" bill. In other words -no reason other then two years ago the Village Board decided to bill sprinkler owners 4 times a year instead of 2 times a year. I'm furious.
I'm mad at myself for not noticing this bill for the past two years. It is crazy that we are paying for a utility that is not even being used - let along not even connected!
I was trying to find a consumer watch group to contact. I'm in Chicago suburbs. Anyone ever utilize a group?

Where does Ousier live? Because in my world:
1. Voting is done locally at your neighborhood school, firehouse, etc. - walkable distance, no transportation required. (Also, too: mail-in voting - def. no car needed.)
2. One must get ID at the DMV, which is usually across town - or increasingly, in the next town over - and neccessitates some sort of transportation.
