I'm all for people getting jobs to work from home if they're disabled. I get what you're saying...if he can surf the web all day, why can't he work online?
But those jobs are few and far between honestly. I have a college degree and a good resume. I have been searching high and low for a job that will let me work from home. Been looking for 3 YEARS. I'm not disabled but I really need to work from home due to having a disabled child that requires care 24/7 (from DH, Me, or a nurse - not a reg babysitter). My DH's hours are all over the map, so it's either I work from home or work overnights while he's asleep, but then I'd never sleep except for an hour before leaving and a couple hours when coming home. And I think I'd go mental with such little sleep.
But I've found NOTHING. It appears that most people who fell into work from home jobs FIRST were working at a company in a "regular" (location) job, which later transitioned into them being able to do their job from home. Unfortunately I didn't have one of those.
I tell you - the person who comes up with some legit opportunities for people to work from home (not those SCAMS out there), will become an instant billionaire. I know tons of people that want to work from home for various reasons but the jobs are just not out there. That's why the scams work so well. There are a lot of people desperate to work, but who - for various reasons - can't commute to a regular 9-5 job. I'd give anything to find a work from home job. I'd work double the hours for half the pay. Seriously.
Not saying your friend has TRIED to get a work from home job, but maybe he has tried and failed like me.

Everyone in the US is FORCED to pay in. I don't see a problem with getting it back when you are disabled and need it. You were FORCED to pay it no matter what your job. You get what based on what you were FORCED to pay.
