I wish I could retire at 50. I don't even have health issues (knock on wood), but I wouldn't give up my health insurance. And Just Lizzy worked for the government. Couldn't have been that stressful.

I don's begrudge her for having a lot of money, but her lack of empathy for people who are financially devastated by medical bills indicates that she is clearly our of touch with reality.

We were upper middle class until three years ago. Since then we've made a quick slide to lower middle class. It sucks. And don't tell me I'm lazy. I'm not, my job was just eliminated in June. I'm looking but so is everyone else and it sucks being in your mid 40s competing with younger workers.
DH had a great job for 17 years but 3 years ago the business closed. It was over 30 years old and the owner wanted to retire.
Luckily he got a new job within 6 weeks but with a 10k pay cut, no health insurance and no more bonuses.
It's the exact same job in the same industry just with a new company. The owners btw still get their bonuses, but they are the owners so that's their right. I understand that but resent that they put dh on salary expect long hours with no incentives.
With so many people being out of work they can offer the lowest possible package and you have no choice but to take it or keep looking.
I doubt Romney or Obama can fix wants wrong. They just want to make sure the other guy doesn't get the White House, although I'm pretty sure if Romney could make a buck screwing with dh's job he would.
My husband works in a manufacturing job and his 40 hour a week check after taxes is right around 600...luckily the economy has picked back up a bit and he can get overtime, so his check is generally 700-800. I own a small business that brings in between 10-15k a year and work a pt job as well. With us both working and both more than 40 hours a week we still are just barely above the income guidelines for federal aid. Should I stop my part time work we would actually qualify for food stamps and state paid health care. Not all of the working poor(I would venture to say not even most) are lazy asswipes sitting around waiting for someone to take care of them, they/we simply want to be fairly compensated for our time. Instead the business owners continue to rake in record profits while people like my husband haven't seen a raise in over 4 years while having more and more responsibility piled on them. To those who think that we aren't doing enough to support ourselves, I say "go fuck yourselves!"

I'm a "fat girl" and when I mentioned it to my hairdresser as a possible hair cut, she said "no, no, no!" Not the fat girl's haircut. I wish some of the heavier girls would let us do other cuts".
She said since some magazines and online blogs a few years ago published that is was a great, slimming haircut for round faces, they had done so many of those cuts they were sick of them. I'll never understand why income earned from working an actual, real job - manufacturing something, providing a service - should be penalized with higher taxes. I've had a couple of mundane office procedures done that made me get woozy and black out briefly...it was my body over-reacting to a minor trauma, not some giant medical conspiracy.

$48 a month allows me to have a home phone with no long distance and net access. A phone line alone is $30 a month. I have at times done without both but feel that the benefits of having both a phone and net access are well worth the money when I can afford them. Most of my life I thought of myself as middle class, but now I realize I'm actually more like the working poor.
We were upper middle class until three years ago. Since then we've made a quick slide to lower middle class. It sucks. And don't tell me I'm lazy. I'm not, my job was just eliminated in June. I'm looking but so is everyone else and it sucks being in your mid 40s competing with younger workers.
DH had a great job for 17 years but 3 years ago the business closed. It was over 30 years old and the owner wanted to retire.
Luckily he got a new job within 6 weeks but with a 10k pay cut, no health insurance and no more bonuses.
It's the exact same job in the same industry just with a new company. The owners btw still get their bonuses, but they are the owners so that's their right. I understand that but resent that they put dh on salary expect long hours with no incentives.
With so many people being out of work they can offer the lowest possible package and you have no choice but to take it or keep looking.
I doubt Romney or Obama can fix wants wrong. They just want to make sure the other guy doesn't get the White House, although I'm pretty sure if Romney could make a buck screwing with dh's job he would.
My husband works in a manufacturing job and his 40 hour a week check after taxes is right around 600...luckily the economy has picked back up a bit and he can get overtime, so his check is generally 700-800. I own a small business that brings in between 10-15k a year and work a pt job as well. With us both working and both more than 40 hours a week we still are just barely above the income guidelines for federal aid. Should I stop my part time work we would actually qualify for food stamps and state paid health care. Not all of the working poor(I would venture to say not even most) are lazy asswipes sitting around waiting for someone to take care of them, they/we simply want to be fairly compensated for our time. Instead the business owners continue to rake in record profits while people like my husband haven't seen a raise in over 4 years while having more and more responsibility piled on them.
To those who think that we aren't doing enough to support ourselves, I say "go fuck yourselves!"

I'm a "fat girl" and when I mentioned it to my hairdresser as a possible hair cut, she said "no, no, no!" Not the fat girl's haircut. I wish some of the heavier girls would let us do other cuts".
She said since some magazines and online blogs a few years ago published that is was a great, slimming haircut for round faces, they had done so many of those cuts they were sick of them.
