As a landlord fuck you 25 for giving out that advice. Yes eviction can take awhile why the hell should the landlord be stuck because her dumbass is broke. MOVE immediately if that's what you are going to do.
Let you landlord know, they will appreciate it. They won't be happy you are screwing them but at least give them a heads up. And don't leave the property all trashed and nasty.
23: sorry you're in that situation. i have been there many times. easiest and quickest would be to sell stuff on craigslist or bring stuff to consignment shops that give cash upfront. there's one two towns away from me that gives cash upfront for anything kid-related (clothes, strollers, toys, highchairs, etc.) and women's clothing too. ebay is ok but craigslist would be faster. roll any coins you have in the house - one time I did that I had over $100 just from that. if you have anything that you've bought at a store and you still have the receipt, return stuff for now and you can buy it again later once you have the extra money if needed. if you have a "trade" you can do, like if you're good at painting rooms or cleaning or yardwork, you could also advertise that on craigslist and put that you're available immediately - probably some people will be looking for help now with school back in session and things getting busier in life.
Thanks for the advise. I just called the landlord, I've been in the unit for 2 years and have always been early on the rent. She was actually very nice about it. She is letting me pay her payments weekly until I am caught up.
I have a third job interview tomorrow and I think I am the only person to get a third, if I land this I will be on my feet by November.

I was recently given a copy of "The Well Trained Mind" and I have to say I am inspired and I am only on page 30. I am also inspired by my homeschooling friend whose child was in kindergarten and reading at a 5th grade level.
My babies are only 6 weeks lol, so I have a lot of time to think about this, but to be honest I've been thinking of it since I was about 20 (35 now) I randomly bought a book on homeschooling when I was around that age so it's something I've thought about for a long time. I've only just now become a mom of twins.
Too bad that "twinsmom" chick left the board. Being the Ultimate Fashionista, she could settle this entire camel toe/hipster dilemma. Then we would all be able to sleep tonight.

187, you are correct, it comes from the dad's girlfriend, but even taking half of what she said, that 17 year old has some issues. I was the child of divorced parents (the divorce was final when I was 10) and my dad walked away and never looked back, so I didn't have to deal with his new girlfriend(s). I now have a stepson who lives with me and I see the games he plays. I'm here every day with him, so if I posted my story at the pod, would it be discredited because I'm the new wife? Does it matter that I've been doing this since he was 2 and he's now 15? Are we all automatically discredited because we aren't the kid's parent? That's what I see going on over there a lot. Unfortunately, with the divorce rate of first marriages being 50%, that means 50% of kids today will have a step-parent or mom or dad will have a new girlfriend/boyfriend. It sucks and it's not fair, but at some point the child has to grow up (and this one in that thread is nearly an adult, as is mine) and come to terms with what happened. The adults in her life should make sure she talks to someone (a counselor, a pastor, anyone she can confide in) to get these feelings out and be assured that, unless she's a danger to herself, they won't be shared with anyone else.
At 17, I could care less what my parents were doing. I was more focused on school and my friends. That 17-yr old needs to grow the fuck up and get a life of her own.

I brought in a box of very nice designer clothing (Theory, BCBG, Rene Lezard, Big Star, DKNY etc) and the buyer would not take one piece == nothing! I guess my clothing was too nice. While waiting for him to go through my box, I looked around - wow, what a bunch of garbage! I knew I was in trouble when it seemed like most the clothing was of very poor quality (give me a break - $8 for a crappy t-shirt). I was hoping to maybe get $5 - $10 a piece, but nope, not a dime. I guess I wasn't "hipster" enough (I showed up in a North Face jacket and jeans, not some ragged looking clothing like they desire). Don't they want to add some quality items to their store?

23: sorry you're in that situation. i have been there many times. easiest and quickest would be to sell stuff on craigslist or bring stuff to consignment shops that give cash upfront. there's one two towns away from me that gives cash upfront for anything kid-related (clothes, strollers, toys, highchairs, etc.) and women's clothing too. ebay is ok but craigslist would be faster.
roll any coins you have in the house - one time I did that I had over $100 just from that. if you have anything that you've bought at a store and you still have the receipt, return stuff for now and you can buy it again later once you have the extra money if needed.
if you have a "trade" you can do, like if you're good at painting rooms or cleaning or yardwork, you could also advertise that on craigslist and put that you're available immediately - probably some people will be looking for help now with school back in session and things getting busier in life.

I was recently given a copy of "The Well Trained Mind" and I have to say I am inspired and I am only on page 30. I am also inspired by my homeschooling friend whose child was in kindergarten and reading at a 5th grade level.
My babies are only 6 weeks lol, so I have a lot of time to think about this, but to be honest I've been thinking of it since I was about 20 (35 now) I randomly bought a book on homeschooling when I was around that age so it's something I've thought about for a long time. I've only just now become a mom of twins.
Any experience?

I was the child of divorced parents (the divorce was final when I was 10) and my dad walked away and never looked back, so I didn't have to deal with his new girlfriend(s).
I now have a stepson who lives with me and I see the games he plays. I'm here every day with him, so if I posted my story at the pod, would it be discredited because I'm the new wife? Does it matter that I've been doing this since he was 2 and he's now 15? Are we all automatically discredited because we aren't the kid's parent? That's what I see going on over there a lot.
Unfortunately, with the divorce rate of first marriages being 50%, that means 50% of kids today will have a step-parent or mom or dad will have a new girlfriend/boyfriend. It sucks and it's not fair, but at some point the child has to grow up (and this one in that thread is nearly an adult, as is mine) and come to terms with what happened. The adults in her life should make sure she talks to someone (a counselor, a pastor, anyone she can confide in) to get these feelings out and be assured that, unless she's a danger to herself, they won't be shared with anyone else.
At 17, I could care less what my parents were doing. I was more focused on school and my friends. That 17-yr old needs to grow the fuck up and get a life of her own.
