That is a stupid comparison because one causes black lungs, cancer, and sometimes death. The other is.....unhealthy.
Also, the government stepping in to regulate and tax cigarettes isn't what got people to stop smoking. Once we all found out smoking causes cancer, less and less people smoked each year. After many, many years of that, then they got more expensive and taxed more, yes, but most of the people had already stopped at that point. The government "stepping in" isn't what changed people's minds about smoking. It was seeing their relatives and friends all around them die of lung cancer.
Now we know soda is bad for you. If people want to get healthier, they can stop. But soda is not going to give you lung cancer and kill you. The government should be putting their money and energy elsewhere. Lord knows we have bigger issues to worry about. I still drink soda. If I want to be skinnier and healthier, I'll stop. If I refuse to listen to anyone, maybe I'll become obese and get diabetes and die. And whose fault will it be? Mine. The info is out there. No one can say "I didn't know! I made cake balls one time and even though they tasted OK, the texture was really funky (soggy cake) and I didn't like eating them at all. I ended up tossing them out. However I still use my Diva cup! I bought it at the height of the 'fad' around 7 years ago and have used it ever since. Sometimes you can learn about good products on line. 14-yes, he left on Thursday. I guess he came back by the house yesterday but I wasn't home. I had the gates and everything locked up so he couldn't get in. He called me all pissed off and I could tell he was wasted but he had still gotten behind the wheel and drove.
He probably wanted the pipes and spice jars I had found but I had trashed them earlier. At this point, I am ready to pack up his stuff and put it in the driveway.

That is a stupid comparison because one causes black lungs, cancer, and sometimes death. The other is.....unhealthy.
Also, the government stepping in to regulate and tax cigarettes isn't what got people to stop smoking. Once we all found out smoking causes cancer, less and less people smoked each year. After many, many years of that, then they got more expensive and taxed more, yes, but most of the people had already stopped at that point. The government "stepping in" isn't what changed people's minds about smoking. It was seeing their relatives and friends all around them die of lung cancer.
Now we know soda is bad for you. If people want to get healthier, they can stop. But soda is not going to give you lung cancer and kill you. The government should be putting their money and energy elsewhere. Lord knows we have bigger issues to worry about. I still drink soda. If I want to be skinnier and healthier, I'll stop. If I refuse to listen to anyone, maybe I'll become obese and get diabetes and die. And whose fault will it be? Mine. The info is out there. No one can say "I didn't know! I made cake balls one time and even though they tasted OK, the texture was really funky (soggy cake) and I didn't like eating them at all. I ended up tossing them out.
However I still use my Diva cup! I bought it at the height of the 'fad' around 7 years ago and have used it ever since.
