IRL I have 2 dogs that are not rescues or saved or whatever the hell they're called. They're normal dogs that I bought. And not one person IRL has ever questioned it or acted like it's a mortal sin. Most of my family and friends got their dogs at the same types of places. I only know one family that got rescues. Good for them, but it's not what we chose to do. Yet on 2Peas I'd be blasted into next week like I fucking raped somebody.
Your cause is not always everyone else's, and we don't all have a responsibility to save the world in the same way you want to. I'm 23. 28, My question was about Peabay calling a (designer) dog that's half golden retriever "hypoallergenic." I'm not one of the rescue-only peas--I know that's not realistic, for one, and I also think most of the peas are full of shit about their choices. I'd bet that many, if not most of them bought their dogs from breeders. I do have a problem with people selling a mutt for $$$$$ and giving it a fancy name. Those are the dogs who tend to come from puppy mills.

I know I'm going to sound cold but I have kids, I don't have time to deal with a rescue that was probably given up because it has issues. I just don't have the time or patience. Kudos to those that do.
I grew up with rescue dogs and everyone had problems. Didn't matter how much love, attention or training we gave it, it couldn't overcome those issues and some were hard to live with. My cousin always gets rescues too, same thing. There's always some issue, doesn't like people, don't pet it on it's ears, no whistling dixie or what-the-fuck-ever. Same thing with some friends of ours. Total PITA! Why complicate your life like that?
If I'm bringing a dog into my home with my kids, I want to know what I'm going to get. Over the years, between us and DH's brothers we've owned 7 of a certain breed of dog because with this particular dog we know what we're getting.

This is how I remember the old Bucket. For every normal pea, there were about 15 batshit insane peas. The cliques ran the show, which is why No Sliver misses the old days. The place was flush with nutjobs like Baybuny, FeederLynn, and KimberlyDobbs. Yvonne was a huge bully back in the day, and the Mormon contingent was even larger, louder and more contentious.

I wanted a healthy female puppy of this particular breed. I refuse to feel guilty because I didn't get a rescue dog - she is well-cared for, loved, and is part of our family.
I have had both rescue dogs and pure bred dogs... all are wonderful pets... if you are an animal lover any pet in a loving home is a blessed pet... what pisses me off is people the decide they have to have a "designer" animal and then get "bored" with it and dump it at the shelter... animals give unconditional love... if you don't want a commitment, don't do it... either way...
Not all fat women get fatter when pregnant. I didn't. I lost weight. I also had a healthy no issue pregnancy. Still fat, even weigh more than right before I had my child, but it is something I work on daily.
It is harder for women to lose weight with compared to men. I bust my behind, and have weeks were nothing happens at all. I work with a trainer, and it is hell (i.e. I was ready to throw up the other day and almost passed out!), and yet it is still a very slow process. Thankfully I have some awesome Dr.'s that are trying to figure out what the heck is wrong with me. I have held my own at the gym with super skinny women, yet, still weight a lot. :(

IRL I have 2 dogs that are not rescues or saved or whatever the hell they're called. They're normal dogs that I bought. And not one person IRL has ever questioned it or acted like it's a mortal sin. Most of my family and friends got their dogs at the same types of places. I only know one family that got rescues. Good for them, but it's not what we chose to do. Yet on 2Peas I'd be blasted into next week like I fucking raped somebody.
Your cause is not always everyone else's, and we don't all have a responsibility to save the world in the same way you want to. I have my own causes that are dear to my heart and I volunteer and donate often. But it's not related to animals. If that's your thing, good for you, but don't push it on me.

I'm 23. 28, My question was about Peabay calling a (designer) dog that's half golden retriever "hypoallergenic." I'm not one of the rescue-only peas--I know that's not realistic, for one, and I also think most of the peas are full of shit about their choices. I'd bet that many, if not most of them bought their dogs from breeders. I do have a problem with people selling a mutt for $$$$$ and giving it a fancy name. Those are the dogs who tend to come from puppy mills.

I grew up with rescue dogs and everyone had problems. Didn't matter how much love, attention or training we gave it, it couldn't overcome those issues and some were hard to live with. My cousin always gets rescues too, same thing. There's always some issue, doesn't like people, don't pet it on it's ears, no whistling dixie or what-the-fuck-ever. Same thing with some friends of ours. Total PITA! Why complicate your life like that?
If I'm bringing a dog into my home with my kids, I want to know what I'm going to get. Over the years, between us and DH's brothers we've owned 7 of a certain breed of dog because with this particular dog we know what we're getting.

This is how I remember the old Bucket. For every normal pea, there were about 15 batshit insane peas. The cliques ran the show, which is why No Sliver misses the old days. The place was flush with nutjobs like Baybuny, FeederLynn, and KimberlyDobbs. Yvonne was a huge bully back in the day, and the Mormon contingent was even larger, louder and more contentious.
I was that heavy woman. I did get pregnant...lost 7 pounds during pregnancy 1, gained 1 pound with second.
I was watched very closely, and had several complications of pregnancy, but two healthy sons.
Since then I've lost weight, gained some back and am now losing again.

I wanted a healthy female puppy of this particular breed. I refuse to feel guilty because I didn't get a rescue dog - she is well-cared for, loved, and is part of our family.
I have had both rescue dogs and pure bred dogs... all are wonderful pets... if you are an animal lover any pet in a loving home is a blessed pet... what pisses me off is people the decide they have to have a "designer" animal and then get "bored" with it and dump it at the shelter... animals give unconditional love... if you don't want a commitment, don't do it... either way...
Not all fat women get fatter when pregnant. I didn't. I lost weight. I also had a healthy no issue pregnancy. Still fat, even weigh more than right before I had my child, but it is something I work on daily.
It is harder for women to lose weight with compared to men. I bust my behind, and have weeks were nothing happens at all. I work with a trainer, and it is hell (i.e. I was ready to throw up the other day and almost passed out!), and yet it is still a very slow process. Thankfully I have some awesome Dr.'s that are trying to figure out what the heck is wrong with me. I have held my own at the gym with super skinny women, yet, still weight a lot. :(
I understand her husbands concern. I want another child, and I am nervous about doing it at this weight. But if he is a jerk about it, there is a problem. I have seen relationships crash and burn with one person in it, goes through a drastic change like that. Heck, my best friend was dumped by her boyfriend after dating for five years, after he lost weight and other women found him attractive. She loved him for him, not his looks. Poor guy tried to come back later on and apologize, but he realized to late that she loved him for who he was, not what he looked like.

I have an Anxiety disorder, and it is real. The real trick is to get help to deal with it (which is what I did). I don't let it rule my life. I still get anxious, but I am now able to push pass it and do what I need/want to do.
