My DD just wanted to do something nice for someone and I really was not prepared for the mean comments I got about both my parenting and my DD's looks; which apparently fell short of some pea-people's expectations. My DD had a nice time, T is a terrific kid and his mom is justified in being proud of him. My Dad sent me an email from Helsinki today and mentioned how much they enjoyed the short trip up the coast so from my perspective, we're all happy.
If anyone had regrets after doing the pay-pal thing, why didn't you just handle it in email? Since I have not heard from the original poster, I'm thinking she was just some pot-stirer who had nothing to do with the original event. FTR, I don't usually donate to appeals on Internet boards but seeing how genuinely happy people were for the prom thing, I donated for someone's breast cancer walk and another event.
As for where the 'extra' went, I keep hearing T's school was called a "fancy private school" but it also a Catholic school which has students enrolled on tuition scholarships which may cover enrollment but not the extras such as formal dances. I'm on lunch here but I'll try to make this brief.
I'm sorry if anyone feels like they were scammed. I do not need the money nor would I have accepted it. I also do not know the amount or how many people contributed.
My DD just wanted to do something nice for someone and I really was not prepared for the mean comments I got about both my parenting and my DD's looks; which apparently fell short of some pea-people's expectations. My DD had a nice time, T is a terrific kid and his mom is justified in being proud of him. My Dad sent me an email from Helsinki today and mentioned how much they enjoyed the short trip up the coast so from my perspective, we're all happy.
If anyone had regrets after doing the pay-pal thing, why didn't you just handle it in email?
Since I have not heard from the original poster, I'm thinking she was just some pot-stirer who had nothing to do with the original event. FTR, I don't usually donate to appeals on Internet boards but seeing how genuinely happy people were for the prom thing, I donated for someone's breast cancer walk and another event.
As for where the 'extra' went, I keep hearing T's school was called a "fancy private school" but it also a Catholic school which has students enrolled on tuition scholarships which may cover enrollment but not the extras such as formal dances. If next year, some students who couldn't afford to go get help going to the event, wouldn't that be a good thing and still in keeping with spirit in which people donated?
